Frog jug

A one-of-a-kind porcelain jug, decorated with a jumping frog against a background of clouds and a thunderbolt. The handle is hand-pulled.

Mishima is a technique in which lines are carved into the porcelain and filled with black underglaze, creating crisp, graphic details. Parts of the jug are sprayed with an ash glaze, while the interior is coated in a lively chun glaze. The jug is salt fired and holds approximately 0.4 liters of water, wine, or ditch water covered in duckweed.
